Angular correlations in breakup of three-body halo nuclei

چکیده
We use the three-body model and the sudden approximation to compute angular correlations in high-energy fragmentation reactions of two-neutron halos on light targets. The contribution from one-neutron absorption by far dominates over that of neutron scattering. We use He (n1n1a) and Li (n1n1Li) as examples and study the dependence of the predictions of this model on different physical assumptions and parameters. @S0556-2813~98!50111-2#

Optical potentials of halo and weakly bound nuclei
The optical potential of halo and weakly bound nuclei has a long range part due to the coupling to breakup that damps the elastic scattering angular distributions at all angles for which the effect of the nuclear interaction is felt. In charge exchange reactions leading to a final state with a halo nucleus, the surface potential is responsible for a strong reduction in the absolute cross sectio...
متن کاملSignificance Of Deuteron Breakup In A Halo Transfer Reaction
We discuss the quasi-adiabatic approximations to the three-body wavefunction in breakup processes, clarifying the assumptions underlying the model. This suggests alternative approximation schemes. Using different theoretical three-body models, calculated differential cross section angular distributions for the Be(p,d) reaction, for which new preliminary data have been reported at 35 MeV, are pr...
متن کاملAnalytical potential for the elastic scattering of light halo nuclei in the Coulomb field of heavy targets
Light halo nuclei are exotic and weakly-bound systems that have attracted much interest during the past decades [1]. In particular neutron-rich nuclei near the dripline provide a new path for studying nuclear matter and correlations at low densities. In these nuclei, the halo is often formed by one or several loosely attached (valence) neutrons with binding energies of less than 1 MeV and with ...
متن کاملScaling laws and effective-range approach for electromagnetic strength in single-particle halo nuclei
Electromagnetic strength functions of single-particle halo nuclei exhibit universal features that can be described in terms of characteristic scale parameters [1, 2]. These exotic nuclei are often well described assuming a simple nucleon+core structure. They have been studied extensively in recent years by electromagnetic excitation with the help of the Coulomb breakup method. A large electroma...
متن کاملSignificant features of 8 B scattering from 208 Pb at 170 . 3 MeV
The scattering of proton-halo nucleus 8B from 208Pb at 170.3 MeV is shown to reveal a distinctive pattern in the change in |SL| that is induced by coupling to breakup channels. The same pattern had been found for 8B scattering from 58Ni at 30 MeV, an energy near the Coulomb barrier, and has been linked to various other respects in which scattering for this proton-halo nucleus differs from that ...
